CLEP

The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP®) is a series of examinations in 35 introductory college subjects that allow individuals to earn college credit for what they already know regardless of how that knowledge was acquired — through advanced course work, independent study, work experience, professional development, or extracurricular activities. 海角社区 awards credit for successful scores on CLEP® exams.

CLEP® exams are 90 minutes long and are administered on computer. Students receive instant score reports following completion of the exam with the exception of the College Composition.

How to Register for the CLEP Exam

 There are two steps to register for a CLEP exam:

*$25.00 Essay Fee - You must pass the multiple choice sections of the Composition and Literature CLEP exams in order to qualify for the essay portion.

Testing Schedule

Tuesday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Scores

You will receive your unofficial score report upon completion of exam with the exception of College Composition. The official score report should be received by your school of choice within two weeks from exam date.

 

CLEP Essays

海角社区 requires an essay portion for the following CLEP exams:

  • American Literature
  • Analyzing & Interpreting Literature
  • English Literature
  • College Composition Modular

All examinees will have six months to complete the essay portion once they have passed the multiple choice section of the test. If examinee has not completed the essay portion within this time period, examinee will have to retake the multiple choice section of the test. All examinees must complete the essay portion at 海角社区.

Essays are graded by the 海角社区 CLEP Committee. The final determination for awarding of equivalent credit is based solely upon the strength of the written essays. The 海角社区 CLEP Committee will score the essays within two to four weeks and send results to the Career & Professional Development. Examinee will receive score results within three to five weeks from time of exam completion.

How many courses can I CLEP out of?

No more than 30 semester credit hours may be applied toward a bachelor's degree.

What to Bring on Test Day

Personal identification. You must show one form of valid ID to be admitted to the testing room.

Your primary ID must be government-issued and include your name, signature, and a recognizable photograph. Acceptable forms of primary ID include:

  • Current driver's license
  • State or federal ID card
  • Current passport
  • Military ID with photo and signature
  • Tribal ID
  • Naturalization card or certificate of citizenship

Testing Accommodations

To request accommodations for the CLEP exam because of a disability, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act of 1990 including the amendments of 2008, you must:

  • Register with the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC), submit documentation of your disability, and meet with the director of the ARC at least 1 week before your test date.
