Gushers in July/Food Drive at Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum

Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum announces its “Gushers in July” schedule for 2020. Every Wednesday in July (July 1, 8, 15, 22 and 29) at noon, the gusher will go off. This is a good time for families to cool down in the two minutes of water gushing from the derrick. The gusher is a recreation of the first gusher gusher enactmentof 1901.

During this time, the Southeast Texas Food Bank will collect food for the hungry. A donation barrel will be placed on the grounds of the Museum.

Do something fun as well as help others.

“With the Covid-19 shut down, many families are depending on the Southeast Texas Food Bank for help. We are happy to assist the food bank, especially this year, while also providing safe fun for families,” said director Troy Gray.

Spindletop-Gladys City Boomtown is a replica of the boomtown that grew up around the Spindletop oil fields in the early 1900's. While watching the gusher from the parking lot is free, the entrance fee to the museum is $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens and $2 for children under 12.

Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum is located on the corner of Jimmy Simmons Boulevard and Cardinal Drive on the º£½ÇÉçÇø campus. The museum is open Tues. – Sat. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sun. 1–5 p.m. For more information, please call 409-880-1750, visit /spindletop-gladys-city/index.html or email at gladyscityinfo@gmail.com.
