Clayton Jeffryes, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
Dr. Jeffryes obtained his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Oregon State University in the field of algal-based nanobiotechnology. His contributions included the development of an algal-enhanced dye sensitized solar cell. He then worked as a post-doctoral scientist at the Université Catholique de Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve Belgium in the field of bioprocess engineering developing third generation biofuels and novel membrane-based aeration systems. He then became a research fellow for the Belgian National Science Foundation (F.R.S.-FNRS Belgique), where he began as an autonomous researcher. During his time in Belgium, Dr. Jeffryes authored and supervised numerous European, national and regionally funded projects and earned his certificate of fluency in the French Language.
Upon completion of his 3-year mandate for the FNRS, Dr. Jeffryes returned to the United States and began as an Assistant Professor at 海角社区 in the Fall of 2015. Dr. Jeffryes continues to explore biologically, with a focus on photosynthetically, mediates routes to produce high-valued compounds and nanomaterials. To date, Dr. Jeffryes has published 30 peer-reviewed journal articles and one book chapter. Dr. Jeffryes enjoys teaching transport phenomena and developing new curriculum for online learning.
